A fire broke out overnight at a hospital on Abukhava Street in Hrodna. According to the Ministry for Emergency Situations, 11 people were rescued from the building, while another 254 people, including 10 children, were evacuated.
Emergency services received a report of smoke inside the six-storey building during the night. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the fire had started in a hospital ward on the fifth floor.
Hospital staff, assisted by police officers, evacuated five people from the burning ward after noticing the smell of smoke. None of them was injured. Rescue workers then led another six people out of the danger zone using special respiratory protection masks. They were taken to hospital.
In total, 254 people, including 10 children, were evacuated from the hospital building. None of those evacuated was injured.
The fire was extinguished. Fifteen emergency vehicles were deployed to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
