The socio-political part of the fifth Ostrogski Forum will take place in Kyiv on September 18–19. Participants will discuss prospects for practical cooperation between Ukraine and Belarusian democratic forces, the event organizers said.
The forum will bring together Belarusian and Ukrainian experts, politicians, researchers, journalists and civil society representatives. Discussions will focus on the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine on regional security, as well as the possible place of a democratic Belarus in the future security system.
Participants intend to consider whether support for Ukraine by Belarusian democratic forces could form the basis for a full-fledged partnership. Particular attention will be paid to migration, banking and social problems faced by Belarusians in Ukraine, as well as their role and responsibilities in Ukrainian society during the war.
The program also includes discussions on jointly countering the ideology of the “Russian world,” the role of culture and ways to make the voice of the anti-war segment of Belarusian society more visible in Ukraine. Another topic will be the future of Belarusian volunteers and prospects for broader Belarusian-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of security.
The results of new research on Belarusian-Ukrainian relations will be presented at the forum. The detailed program is available on the Free Belarus Center website.
The Ostrogski Forum is a regular Belarusian-Ukrainian expert platform. Its socio-political section is traditionally held in Kyiv, while its expert section takes place in Lviv.
The organizers are Free Belarus Center, the Foreign Policy Council “Ukrainian Prism,” Ukrainian Catholic University, the Political Sphere Institute, the European Dialogue Center and the Center for European Transformation. The forum is supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the International Renaissance Foundation.
