Orange Alert Issued for June 11

Forecasters have issued a storm warning with an orange hazard level for Thursday.

“On June 11 (Thursday), thunderstorms are expected overnight across the western half of the country and during the day across most of Belarus, with heavy downpours in some areas. During daytime thunderstorms, squally winds with gusts of 15-20 m/s are expected in isolated districts. In Minsk, thunderstorms are forecast during the day, with squally wind gusts of 15-20 m/s possible in parts of the city,” the warning said.

Weather conditions in Belarus on Wednesday will be influenced by an atmospheric front moving from southwestern Europe and a warm, unstable air mass. Skies will be partly cloudy. Light fog is expected in some areas overnight and in the morning. Minimum overnight temperatures will range from +12°C to +18°C, while daytime highs will range from +18°C in western Belarus to +30°C in the east.
