Oman’s First Ambassador Arrives in Minsk

Oman’s first ambassador based in the Belarusian capital has arrived in Minsk. Previously, the Arab country’s interests in Belarus were represented by ambassadors based permanently in Moscow.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser bin Sulaiman bin Hamad Alharthy today presented copies of his credentials to Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou.

The sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and discussed the development of cooperation in the fields of economics, trade and culture.

Ryzhankou noted that Belarus and Oman had established relations of trust in recent years, and that Oman had become one of Belarus’ key partners in the Middle East.

“The sides confirmed the importance of maintaining a high level of contact at the highest and senior levels, as well as their interest in further deepening the dialogue. They discussed the schedule of joint events for the near future,” the ministry added.

The presentation of copies of credentials to the Foreign Ministry marks the de facto start of an ambassador’s diplomatic mission.
