Oil and Petrochemical Facilities in Russia Catch Fire After Drone Raid

Russia’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted and destroyed 231 drones over the territory of 16 regions of the country.

Authorities in several Russian regions reported fires caused by the raid.

In Tolyatti, in the Samara region, a fire broke out at the Tolyattikauchuk petrochemical plant following a drone attack.

In Nizhnekamsk, in Tatarstan, the Nizhnekamskneftekhim facility was hit.

“The enterprises affected by the attack are promptly dealing with the consequences,” said Rustam Minnikhanov, the head of Tatarstan.

According to him, one of the drones also struck a residential building. Residents were evacuated.

Overnight, eight Russian airports temporarily suspended operations.
