Belarus has approved an updated charter for the Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC). The corresponding decree was signed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
The charter has been updated to reflect current trends in the development of the information sector.
The decree is intended to improve BTRC’s functions and production capabilities in its information activities and the development of new media formats.
“Implementation of the document will make the Belarusian Television and Radio Company’s work more effective and prompt in creating and promoting high-quality national content across a range of genres,” Lukashenka’s press service reports.
In the updated version, the first stated objective of BTRC’s activities is “coverage of the activities of the President of the Republic of Belarus,” followed by “ensuring the constitutional right of citizens of the Republic of Belarus to receive complete, reliable and timely information about the activities of state bodies and public associations, and about political, economic, cultural and international life and the state of the environment.”
