Myanmar Parliament Seeks Approval for Export Loans From Belarus

Myanmar’s parliament on October 6 sought approval to obtain export loans from the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus and Belinvestbank, Myanmar-based publication BETV Business reported.

The export loans are intended to finance the purchase of Belarusian-made goods, modern machinery and technical equipment, technologies and services.

Under the terms of the export loans, financing is provided for a period of one to five years, with a maximum grace period of one year.

The loans are available in five currencies: Belarusian rubles, Russian rubles, Chinese yuan, US dollars and euros. The interest rate depends on the loan currency and the category of exported goods. Based on the interest rates for the respective currencies in September 2026, the rate ranges from a minimum of 2.25% to a maximum of 9.33%. In addition to interest, borrowers will have to pay an insurance premium, the amount of which depends on the loan term.

A Belarus-Myanmar intergovernmental agreement on providing export loans was signed in November 2025. In May 2026, it was approved by the Belarusian government.
