Minsk Gets Its First Diagonal Pedestrian Crossing

Minsk has introduced its first diagonal pedestrian crossing. It has been installed at the intersection of Nemanskaya and Lidskaya streets.

According to the Minsk City Executive Committee’s Traffic Police Department, pedestrians can now cross the intersection not only perpendicularly to the streets but also diagonally. During the pedestrian crossing phase, traffic from all directions is stopped.

The new traffic signal pattern has also made it possible to install special signs allowing cyclists and riders of personal mobility devices (PMDs) to cross the roadway without dismounting.
