Political prisoner Yana Pinchuk was sent to a punitive isolation cell (SHIZO) for 15 days at the Homiel women’s penal colony in early September after a conversation with a GUBOPiK officer. “Mediazona” reports, citing a source.
According to the outlet, GUBOPiK department head Artur Haiko visited the colony at the end of August and summoned some political prisoners for conversations. Pinchuk was among them. About a week after the conversation, reports against her began to be drawn up. As a result, Pinchuk was deprived of a visit, and on September 1 she was sentenced to 15 days in SHIZO. The source claims that GUBOPiK initiated the reports.
“The colony itself would not have initiated these reports; GUBOPiK does this. On September 1, she was given 15 days in SHIZO, and Yana has asthma. And at some point she was not in the colony. There is a possibility that she was in hospital”, the source said.
In August, “Mediazona” reported that unidentified people had used a photograph of Pinchuk in the Globi dating app.
In June 2023, Pinchuk was sentenced to 12 years in a general-regime penal colony. She was found guilty under articles concerning participation in an “extremist formation,” actions against national security, incitement to hatred, mass riots, and the creation of or participation in a “terrorist organization.”
Artur Haiko is linked to the scandal surrounding the “Black Book of Belarus” project. It was previously revealed that from October 2020 to July 2021, he worked undercover inside the project for about nine months.
