The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) has summarized the results of its monitoring of dominant market players from January to September. Over the nine months, ministry specialists conducted “monitoring and analytical activities” on the websites of 107 dominant companies. They looked for violations of legislation on prices and pricing, advertising and consumer protection, trade, antimonopoly regulation, and natural monopolies.
A total of four violations were identified. They concerned consumer protection and trade legislation, including distance selling through an online store without registering the store in the Trade Register.
As an example, MART’s press service chose an advertisement for mud.
“The actions of Hermes A LLC, which holds a dominant position in the market for ‘therapeutic sapropelic mud,’ showed signs of violating advertising legislation by publishing on its website unsubstantiated claims that the product manufactured and sold by Hermes A LLC had advantages over similar products,” the statement said.
MART issued recommendations to the company, which were fully implemented.
