The Cherykau District Court found a 32-year-old man guilty of serious and particularly serious hooliganism. He was sentenced to five years in prison, to be served in a correctional colony under enhanced-security conditions. He was also ordered to undergo treatment for alcoholism.
The incident underlying the criminal case took place in the Mahiliou district. According to the prosecutor’s office, on December 31, 2025, the man “purchased a gas-powered air pistol in a neighboring country.” While drunk, he fired the pistol eight times at a colleague while they were traveling in a vehicle that morning, causing him bodily injuries.
That evening, in the Mahiliou district, he fired at cars parked in a lot from the balcony of an acquaintance’s apartment.
“The defendant did not stop there. In his colleague’s apartment, he fired a shot at his mother’s leg, causing the woman bodily injuries”, the prosecutor’s office added.
The man pleaded guilty.
The court granted one of the victim’s claims for compensation for material damage of 1,300 rubles and moral damages of 500 rubles. The verdict may still be appealed or challenged.
