Aliaksandr Lukashenka hinted during a report by Minsk City Executive Committee Chairman Uladzimir Kukharau that he wants to see higher gross domestic product growth figures.
“For the country, God willing, we will reach 3% — that is the target I am setting. Belarus’s GDP must increase by 3%. We need to bring it up to 3% by the end of the year. And you should try to reach 3.5%, you need to achieve that”, Lukashenka said, according to his press service.
Lukashenka approved the forecast for the country’s socio-economic development for 2026 in a decree at the end of last year. It envisages GDP growth of only 2.8%. In January-July, the indicator increased by 2.1%.
