Alyaksandr Lukashenka has signed a decree approving the First Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Transfer of Persons Sentenced to Imprisonment for the Further Serving of Their Sentences, adopted on March 6, 1998.
The protocol was signed by the heads of CIS member states in Dushanbe on October 10, 2025.
The document provides for the designation of an authorized person within a competent state body who will be responsible for operational coordination on issues related to the transfer of convicted persons to serve their sentences based on the principle of citizenship.
It defines the powers of this official, the procedure for information exchange, and other measures aimed at accelerating the implementation of the formal procedures stipulated by the Convention.
