Lukashenka Signs Laws on Aquaculture, Land Reclamation and Farm Animal Identification

Aliaksandr Lukashenka signed three laws on October 22 regulating aquaculture, land reclamation and the identification of farm animals, his press service reported.

The Law “On Aquaculture (Fish Farming)” aims to establish a legal framework for regulating the sector and the operation of existing and new production facilities. The legislation introduces several new terms, including “aquaculture,” “aquaculture facilities,” “pasture-based aquaculture,” “cages” and “recirculating aquaculture systems.”

The law defines the rights and obligations of fish farming organizations and provides for conditions to support the development of new production facilities. It is expected to help increase the supply of domestically produced fish on the local market.

Lukashenka also signed the laws “On Amendments to Laws on Land Reclamation” and “On the Identification, Registration and Traceability of Farm Animals (Herds), and the Identification and Traceability of Products of Animal Origin.”

The documents provide for improvements to the legislation based on its practical application and its alignment with existing regulatory legal acts, according to the press release.
