Aliaksandr Lukashenka has instructed the Interior Ministry to prepare a draft law on amnesty.
According to Lukashenka’s press service, particular attention will be given to women in the draft legislation.
“This is an opportunity to correct mistakes and atone for them through honest work, return to a full life in society, and preserve families,” the press service said.
The last amnesty in Belarus was carried out in 2025. It affected around 8,000 people but did not apply to those convicted under articles related to protests and extremism.
