Lukashenka Decides to Hand Over Land in Verkhnyadzvinsk District to Businessman Varabei

Aliaksandr Lukashenka flew to Verkhnyadzvinsk District today. He decided to visit the Krasny Bor Agro livestock farm, owned by Mikalai Varabei, a businessman close to Lukashenka.

According to a statement from Lukashenka’s press service, he did not arrive empty-handed. Before the trip, he had “carefully studied the district map and identified land that could be offered to an efficient private investor to develop production.” Lukashenka said this was a last-resort option, but that it was justified in this case.

“Mikalai, if you want support, I noted at home what you should take. I am ready to transfer it to you. Something needs to be done here radically. This complex needs feed. The available land should provide you with feed. Submit a plan to me by spring,” he told Varabei.

Lukashenka also promised the businessman subsidies.

“There is no big money. We will subsidize you, just like everyone else,” he said.

He also expressed support for Varabei’s other businesses in Verkhnyadzvinsk District.

“The forest and the land are yours, and the tourism business is yours. Feed the people who come here on holiday — get the food from here and feed them. That is what you are already doing,” Lukashenka said.

During the trip, Lukashenka demanded that officials present him with a strategy for the northern districts of the Vitsyebsk Region. It must be ready by the end of the year.

“What are we going to do here? Braslau, Miory, Verkhnyadzvinsk, Rasony. The north of Belarus. What is the strategy?” he asked.

During the visit, Lukashenka presented a heifer of the Japanese Black cattle breed. The animal was born on July 1 this year and was named Osveya. Japanese Black is one of the cattle breeds whose meat is used to produce Wagyu beef.
