Lukashenka Calls State of Belarusian Economy Acceptable for Living

Alyaksandr Lukashenka described the state of the Belarusian economy as acceptable for the life of an ordinary person. He made the remark while speaking at the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.

At the beginning of his address, Alyaksandr Lukashenka listed the achievements of the previous five-year period, noting that exports exceeded $50 billion, the average monthly wage reached 2,700 rubles, and in real terms increased by 40% over five years.

“Anticipating attacks about macroeconomic imbalances, I will say that we have a stable, normal economy, the debt burden is decreasing, gold and foreign exchange reserves are at a historical maximum, trust in the national currency has justifiably grown, and taking into account the initial conditions mentioned at the beginning and the results achieved, for the usual life of people the economy is generally acceptable,” he said.

Lukashenka recalled that the Assembly is to adopt a social and economic development program for the next five years. According to him, if Belarus wants to steadily reach GDP of $100 billion and an average monthly wage of $1,000, enterprises and the financial system must operate successfully. At the same time, the country should rely on global poles of power, which, in his view, are China, Russia, the United States, and in the future India.
