Lithuanian President Grants Citizenship To 32 People Born In Belarus

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda granted Lithuanian citizenship to 276 people. Another 10 people had their previously lost Lithuanian citizenship restored.

A number of relevant decrees were signed on Aug. 21.

Among those granted Lithuanian citizenship were 32 people whose place of birth is listed as Belarus. This does not necessarily mean that all of them are Belarusian citizens.

Three people born in Belarus received Lithuanian citizenship through a simplified procedure. This procedure applies to applicants with Lithuanian ancestry. Another 29 people born in Belarus received citizenship through the standard procedure.
