Border guards at the Bieniakoni checkpoint detained a 49-year-old Latvian citizen who tried to bring a narcotic substance into Belarus from Lithuania, the State Border Committee reported.
The incident occurred on September 2. A border patrol found 12 electronic smoking devices hidden in the interior lining of a passenger bus. An examination showed that the liquid in one of the vapes contained hash oil.
During operational and investigative measures, border guards identified the suspected owner of the device among the bus passengers. He was a 49-year-old resident of Riga. A medical examination also confirmed that he had used a narcotic substance.
The man was detained. He is currently being held at the temporary detention facility of the Lida Border Guard Detachment.
Criminal proceedings have been opened against the foreign national under Part 1 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code for illegal trafficking in narcotic substances and Part 1 of Article 328-1 for the illegal movement of narcotics across the border.
