Latvia’s Ministry of Transport is drafting a government order to discontinue regular passenger bus services with Belarus and Russia. Delfi reported this.
Earlier, starting from 1 November, the Latvian government had already banned non-regular passenger transport on these routes. Regular services are still operating for now.
Currently, regular services are carried out on three routes to Russia and three routes to Belarus. The draft order is expected to include the possibility of revising the decision if security conditions change.
In the long term, the Ministry of Transport is assessing the need to amend regulatory provisions by adding a security risk assessment as grounds for restricting or suspending the issuance of permits.
