Khrenin Holds Operational Gathering of Military Commanders, “Homegrown” Drones to Be Showcased

Belarusian Defence Minister Viktar Khrenin is holding an operational gathering of the Armed Forces’ command staff today. He said the event is part of the military training system. The gathering is taking place at one of the training grounds.

“As part of this gathering, you will receive recommendations on how to address the most challenging tasks involved in troop training. Current trends in the development of warfare capabilities show that the opposing sides in Ukraine are actively adopting new technologies that enable contactless combat operations, using various innovations for reconnaissance, delivering fire strikes, and moving personnel and material resources.

This also includes training for the use of combined-arms units, reconnaissance and communications units, logistics and technical support units, mobile fire teams, including in conditions where unmanned aerial systems and robotic platforms are used extensively,” the minister said as he opened the event.

At the first stage of the gathering, participants will attend training sessions introducing them to modern approaches to troop training. The sessions will involve mechanised and tank units, crews operating strike unmanned aerial systems, reconnaissance units, engineering troops, ground-based air defence units, radiation, chemical and biological protection units, and technical and logistics support units. Participants will be shown the drones currently in service and equipment designed to counter them.

“These include not only factory-made models but also so-called homegrown designs created by the servicemen themselves,” Khrenin added.

The second stage will focus on ideological indoctrination of the command staff. Officers will be briefed on trends in the development of the military and political situation and given an overview of the country’s socio-political situation.
