Kazakhstan Awaits Russia’s Response on Resuming Oil Supplies via Druzhba Pipeline

Kazakhstan has sent Russia a request to resume oil shipments via the Druzhba pipeline, the country’s Energy Minister Erlan Aqkenjenov said.

“I personally delivered the official request in a face-to-face meeting. The request has been submitted. The Kazakh side is awaiting a response from the Russian side,” he said.

Kazakh oil was previously transported through the Druzhba pipeline system, which also runs through Belarusian territory, to the refinery in Schwedt, Germany. However, Russia halted the transit in May. During the first four months of this year, Kazakhstan managed to ship 1.02 million tonnes of oil to Germany. Its planned shipments via Druzhba for the year totalled 3 million tonnes.
