Iranian Link Suspected in Cyberattack on Nuclear Research Center in Poland

Polish authorities suspect an Iranian connection in a cyberattack on the National Centre for Nuclear Research located near Warsaw.

According to RMF FM, an attempt was recently made to breach the security system on the center’s servers. The attempt was prevented.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski said that preliminary data about the attack points to locations linked to Iran. He also allowed for the possibility that this could have been a disguise.

“Everything indicates that this is an Iranian attack, but we do not rule out the possibility of a disguise,” the radio station quotes Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka as saying, who expressed a similar view.

The source of the cyberattack is expected to be identified within the next few days.
