Investigative Committee Launches Special Proceedings Against Two People

The Investigative Committee of Belarus has launched special proceedings against two Belarusian citizens — Aliaksandr Svirski and Vadzim Dubojski.

Svirski is charged under Article 13 of the Criminal Code (preparation for a crime and attempted crime), Part 6 of Article 16 of the Criminal Code (complicity in a crime), Part 1 of Article 290-1 of the Criminal Code (financing terrorist activities) and Part 1 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code (incitement of racial, national, religious, social or other hatred or hostility).

Dubojski is charged under Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code (mass riots). In 2020, a criminal case was opened against Dubojski under the article on participation in mass riots. He left Belarus. In 2021, he was detained by Russian border guards while attempting to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border. The Belarusian authorities sought his extradition. According to Dissidentby, Dubojski was released in April 2022 after his detention period expired, after which he left Russia.
