Investigative Committee Completes Investigation Into Blogger Mikhail Dragun

The Investigative Committee has completed its investigation into the criminal case against 17-year-old Hrodna-based blogger Mikhail Dragun. He is charged with defamation and causing large-scale property damage without signs of theft.

According to the case materials, in the summer of 2025 the blogger offered to help the mother of 9-year-old Vanya Stsiatsienka raise money for the boy’s expensive medical treatment. The blogger collected donations through his Instagram account but transferred only a small portion to the child’s treatment.

Dragun used several SIM cards and more than 20 bank accounts belonging to relatives and acquaintances to receive donations. He also involved his 37-year-old friend in organising the fundraising campaign, although she was unaware of the blogger’s plans. The woman was detained together with Dragun in November 2025, but criminal proceedings against her were later dropped.

Investigators established that more than 2 million Belarusian roubles intended for the boy’s treatment were transferred to Dragun’s accounts and phone numbers. According to investigators, the teenager transferred only a small portion of the funds to the child’s family and spent the rest on rental housing, restaurants, entertainment, holidays abroad and gifts for followers to promote his account.

Dragun also posted knowingly false information on Instagram that damaged the reputation of his 18-year-old friend. The girl had provided the blogger with her bank account details for charitable fundraising, but when large amounts of money began arriving, she became alarmed and blocked access. The blogger was unable to reach an agreement on transferring the funds and publicly accused the girl on his account of stealing 50,000 Belarusian roubles.

During questioning, the blogger admitted that he had transferred several times less money to the child’s treatment than he had spent on himself and gifts for followers.

The criminal case has been forwarded to the prosecutor for referral to court. The blogger remains in custody.
