Investigative Committee Again Threatens Belarusians Abroad Ahead of Freedom Day

The Investigative Committee of Belarus has issued threats toward Belarusians living abroad in connection with participation in events marking Freedom Day on March 25.

“The Investigative Committee reports that modern methods allow for the identification of every individual. Those involved will be identified, their actions qualified in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, and they will be held accountable, including, if necessary, through special proceedings and confiscation of property within our country,” said official representative Aliaksandr Sukhadolsky.

Such statements have been published annually in recent years. After the events, the committee typically claims it has identified a number of participants and is conducting investigative actions against them.
