First Deputy Commander of the Internal Troops and Chief of Staff Aliaksandr Bykau commented on the readiness check of the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade of the Internal Troops of the Interior Ministry, initiated by Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
“The formation has been placed on a ‘Full’ combat readiness footing, and the transition from peacetime to wartime is being carried out to the extent determined by the State Secretary of the Security Council. Command and control bodies have switched to a combat operating mode. Within the shortest possible time and significantly ahead of the established deadlines, reservists from a number of units specified in the order were mobilised,” he said.
They are now undergoing individual training. Servicemen are practising firearms, tactical and medical training, as well as learning to use drones and operate motorcycles and quad bikes. The next stage is expected to include combat coordination activities and company-level tactical and special exercises.
The deputy commander noted that all activities are taking place against the backdrop of “constant activity by a simulated enemy; simulated reconnaissance and sabotage groups are operating in the areas of permanent deployment and combat coordination, while attempts are being made to launch attacks, conduct fire strikes and carry out drone attacks.”
“Our duty forces are effectively providing direct, marching and sentry security. A significant part of the opposing side has been destroyed, and a number of saboteurs have been detained. Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou monitors the work of the units undergoing the check on a daily basis and focuses them on achieving results. Everyone, from the commander to the soldier, understands the responsibility and significance of this exercise and realises that today they represent the Internal Troops and the Interior Ministry as a whole. They will do everything to live up to this responsibility, accomplish all tasks and successfully pass this examination,” he said.
The readiness check of the 7th Brigade of the Internal Troops began in early September on the orders of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. It was reported that the focus would be on the combat and mobilisation readiness of the Internal Troops, including the mobilisation and completion of units to wartime staffing levels. The Internal Troops have been tasked with maintaining public order in the event of destabilisation.
