Interior Ministry Conducts Readiness Exercise In Homiel

A comprehensive command-and-staff exercise to assess the readiness of Interior Ministry units to operate under special conditions will take place in Homiel Region today. The ministry’s press service reported this.

The first stage of the exercise took place in the city on Tuesday. Various scenarios for developments in the operational situation were analysed and response procedures were practised. The exercise was led by First Deputy Interior Minister and Chief of the Public Security Police Yury Nazaranka and Deputy Interior Minister and Commander of the Internal Troops Mikalai Karpiankou.

The active phase of the exercise is taking place in Homiel today. Until 18:00, traffic and vehicle stops will be restricted in the city:

• on Kamunarau Street from Kirava Street to Savetskaya Street;
• entry into the archway of 18 Savetskaya Street (access to the Interior Ministry clinic);
• entry into the courtyard of 18 Krestyanskaya Street;
• traffic and access to the parking area of the Sozh Hotel will be partially restricted.

The Interior Ministry warned that special and military vehicles may be moving through the city.

“One of the stages of the exercise will take place in Dobrush at 1 Zhaleznadarozhnaya Street. Explosions and gunshots may be heard near the facility. There is no need to worry!” the ministry’s press service added.
