Hrodna Airport Expected to Reopen This Winter

Hrodna Airport may resume operations this winter. Hrodna City Executive Committee Chairman Andrei Khmel told the Hrodna television and radio company.

The airport has now completed the renovation of its runway. A tender has also been held for the purchase of navigation equipment, with delivery expected in the autumn. Once the equipment has been installed, technical issues will need to be resolved before it can be put into operation.

“I am confident that the airport will reopen this coming winter. The task is to attract operators and airlines for which flying to Hrodna will be economically viable,” Khmel said.

Possible destinations include St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kaliningrad. The airport also hopes to launch charter flights to holiday destinations in the future.
