Inflation in Belarus stood at 0.5% in September. Annual price growth accelerated to 4.6%.
Compared with August, cucumbers saw the sharpest price increase in September, rising by 46.14%. They were followed by circus tickets, up 26.59%; avocados, up 17.51%; hot water supply, up 13.97%; salmon roe, up 12.87%; and tomatoes, up 10.25%. Tuition fees rose by 6.94% at universities and by 6.76% at secondary specialised education institutions.
The largest price declines in September were recorded for seasonal goods. Beetroot became 26.39% cheaper over the month, carrots fell by 26.19%, potatoes by 18.68%, grapes by 18.16%, onions by 18.1%, and apples by 13.89%.
Compared with December, the steepest price increases were recorded for avocados, up 40.15%; USB flash drives and memory cards, up 30.85%; matches, up 28.54%; economy-class rail travel, up 26.79%; and suburban bus services, up 25.88%.
The largest price decline compared with December was recorded for cucumbers, which became 51.07% cheaper. Apple prices fell by 38.27% over the same period, tomatoes by 37.18%, and peppers by 24.95%.
