A Homiel resident stole more than 90,000 rubles from a safe, burying some of the money in glass jars and spending the rest.
A representative of one of the organizations reported the theft of money from an office to the police. The suspect was a 46-year-old former employee of the company.
According to the Homiel Regional Executive Committee’s Interior Department, the man entered the company’s premises at night, broke into the manager’s office, found the keys to the safe and stole more than 90,000 rubles. He put some of the money in glass jars and buried them under the floor of his house and at his partner’s dacha. He spent the rest on personal needs and entertainment.
A criminal case has been opened on charges of large-scale theft. The offense carries a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
