The heating season is beginning in Belarus. Social infrastructure is already being connected, with residential buildings next in line. Speaking on Belarusian television, Housing and Utilities Minister Henadz Trubila said heating had already been turned on in 97% of social facilities in the capital.
“If the average daily temperature does not exceed 10 degrees, heating can already be turned on in residential buildings. Decisions are made locally by executive committees. As of today, heating has been connected in 87% of social infrastructure facilities in Vitsyebsk Region and in 97% in Minsk. The next step is to monitor the temperature: if it remains below 10 degrees for three days, residential buildings will begin to be connected”, he said.
Earlier, regulations required residential buildings to be connected when the average daily temperature did not exceed 8 degrees. The minister also named the cost of one gigacalorie of heat.
“The population pays 29.2 rubles per 1 Gcal, while the average cost nationwide is more than 180 rubles. The state covers the difference. Therefore, our goal is to reduce the cost of producing 1 Gcal and thereby reduce the budget subsidy for such an important product as heat”, he added.
