A 48-year-old man was killed during a hunting trip in the Hrodna district, the Investigative Committee reports.
On the evening of Sept. 2, a group of hunters went into the forest. After spotting a roe deer, the hunters began preparing to shoot. At that moment, a 51-year-old gamekeeper discovered that the battery in his scope had run out.
The gamekeeper returned to the car, sat in the driver’s seat and placed a loaded carbine on his lap without putting the weapon on safety. As he was removing the protective cap from the scope, the gun accidentally discharged, with the barrel pointed toward the street. The shot struck his 48-year-old acquaintance. The man died from his injuries.
A criminal case has been opened under the article on causing death by negligence (Part 1, Article 144 of the Criminal Code).
