The Supreme Court of Belarus has sentenced the former director of a meat processing plant to seven years in prison. He was found guilty of receiving large and especially large bribes, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
According to the prosecution, from July 1, 2019, to May 28, 2025, the former manager received about 1.8 million rubles from representatives of private organizations in cash and cryptocurrency. The money was paid in exchange for arranging purchases of complex food additives and ensuring their continued use in the meat plant’s production operations.
The defendant voluntarily repaid the proceeds of crime and fulfilled other obligations under a pre-trial cooperation agreement.
The court sentenced the man to seven years in prison and a fine of 5,000 base units — 225,000 rubles. He was also banned for five years from holding positions involving organizational, administrative or economic management duties.
The verdict has not yet entered into force and may be appealed.
The Prosecutor’s Office previously shared details of the case. The defendant is the former director of OJSC Hrodna Meat Plant, Aleh Ivanou. The money was transferred to the accounts and cryptocurrency wallets of the defendant’s daughter, who was unaware of the bribes.
