Former German Chancellor Joins Supervisory Board of Russian Retail Chain

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder has found a new job in Russia.

The general meeting of participants of LLC Hyperglobus has appointed Gerhard Schröder to the company’s supervisory board. Hyperglobus operates the Globus hypermarket chain in Russia.

Schröder will oversee the chain’s strategic development as a member of the supervisory board. Thomas Bruch, owner of LLC Hyperglobus and shareholder of global company Globus Holding GmbH & Co, said that the former chancellor’s extensive experience in Russia’s political and economic affairs would enable the company to maintain a “dialogue-oriented approach” and find constructive solutions under current conditions, RBC reports: RBC.

In January 2025, LLC Hyperglobus left the German Globus Holding group. The chain operates self-service hypermarkets in Russia’s Central Federal District. As of the end of 2025, it operated 22 stores across eight regions of Russia.
