Two suspected couriers for an online drug shop have been arrested in Belarus, with around 4 kg of psychotropic substances seized from them.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs report, a 26-year-old foreign national brought a shipment of drugs from a neighbouring country for distribution through dead drops in Belarus. When he was arrested, about one kilogram of the psychotropic substance alpha-PVP was found in his possession.
During subsequent operational and investigative measures, a 25-year-old Minsk resident described as a drug shop courier was arrested. Another three kilograms of mephedrone were found on him and in hidden stashes.
The operation was carried out by drug control officers from Homiel region together with fighters from the Lynx special unit of the Interior Ministry’s Internal Troops.
Investigators have opened criminal cases over the illegal distribution of drugs. The detainees face up to 15 years in prison.
