The prosecutor’s office has referred a criminal case against a 25-year-old foreign national to court. He is charged with violating traffic rules resulting in serious bodily injury (Part 2 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code).
According to the prosecution, on July 22 this year, the man was driving a BYD taxi along Zhukava Avenue in Minsk. When choosing his speed, he failed to take into account traffic intensity, weather and road conditions, including rain and wet asphalt. He was also distracted from driving when he looked at the display of a mobile phone mounted on the car’s dashboard. As a result, the BYD partially moved from the third lane into the second, where it collided with a bus travelling ahead.
A passenger in the taxi sustained serious bodily injuries in the crash.
The accused remains in custody.
