Two weather warnings are in effect across Belarus today: one at the red alert level and the other at the orange alert level.
A red alert has been issued because of extreme heat.
“During the daytime on July 1 (Wednesday), maximum air temperatures across most of the country will range from +30°C to +34°C, rising to +35°C to +37°C in the southwest. In Minsk, temperatures will reach +30°C to +32°C,” the statement said.
An orange alert will be in effect during the second half of the day because of thunderstorms.
“During the daytime on July 1 (Wednesday), thunderstorms are expected across the western half of the country. In some areas, thunderstorms will be accompanied by heavy downpours and squally winds with gusts of 15-20 m/s, and in isolated areas 21-24 m/s,” forecasters warned.
