The Interior Ministry has reported the arrest of four men who allegedly extorted a stake in a business from an entrepreneur. They used numerous complaints to various authorities as a means of pressure.
“A 53-year-old native of a neighbouring country, who is a co-owner of one of the enterprises in Orsha, conspired with three residents of the Vitsyebsk region to deliberately spread defamatory information about the company’s 59-year-old co-founder and his family. The suspects filed complaints with various authorities, deliberately exaggerating violations at the organisation,” the Interior Ministry’s press service said.
According to police, during face-to-face meetings with the victim, the suspects demanded that he transfer a stake in the business worth around 350,000 rubles to them in exchange for not disclosing the information.
A criminal case has been opened on charges of extortion by a group of persons on an especially large scale.
