Export of Some Industrial Goods Banned From Belarus to “Prevent Shortages”

The Belarusian government has introduced a temporary ban on the export of certain types of industrial goods. The relevant resolution was signed by Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn.

The ban will remain in effect for six months starting Sept. 23. It is being introduced “to prevent the unjustified export of industrial goods from Belarus amid efforts to prevent shortages of such goods on the domestic market”, the government’s press service reports.

In particular, the list of goods subject to the temporary export ban has been updated.

The following items have been removed from the list of goods subject to the temporary export ban:

• goods for which an authorization procedure for export is considered impractical based on enforcement practice due to the complete absence or small number of export applications during the period of the restrictive measure;
• goods exported outside Belarus to the distribution networks of Belarusian organizations abroad or to special representatives;
• goods whose export and maintenance are complicated by the need to obtain export permits.

The document also establishes additional cases in which approval for the export of goods is not required.
