Officers from the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of Belarus’s Interior Ministry seized 52 rifled and smooth-bore firearms, as well as more than 4,000 rounds of ammunition, from illegal circulation during the special “Arsenal” operation.
As part of the operation, 119 people were checked, including poachers and “black diggers”. A total of 175 searches and inspections were carried out.
In addition, officers seized 33 air rifles with increased muzzle energy, which are prohibited in Belarus, more than 24 kg of explosives, including gunpowder, TNT and tol, as well as nearly 2,000 explosive remnants of World War II. These included mines, shells, grenades and fuses.
Expert examinations have been ordered for all the seized items.
The Interior Ministry reminded the public that the illegal possession, transportation, manufacture and sale of firearms and ammunition carry administrative and criminal penalties. Those who voluntarily surrender unregistered firearms, ammunition and explosives are exempt from liability.
