The European Union on Monday imposed a new package of sanctions against Russia. More than 80 individuals and entities were added to the sanctions lists, including not only Russian companies but also businesses from third countries, including Belarus.
Among those sanctioned are the Belarusian company Izovac LLC and its Russian subsidiary Engineering Group LLC.
According to the sanctions justification, Izovac is a developer and manufacturer of vacuum equipment, thin-film technologies, ion sources, magnetron sputtering technologies and related software. The company is included in Russia’s military-industrial complex register. Together with its subsidiaries, it has supplied goods worth approximately $200 million to Russian defence enterprises.
The sanctions lists also include Lukoil-Western Siberia, Gazpromneft Shipping, S. A. Lavochkin Research and Production Association, the Izhevsk Aviation Plant, the 18th Central Research Institute of the Russian Defence Ministry, the ERA Technopolis and the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives. Companies from China and Turkey were also added to the lists.
Among the individuals sanctioned are Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan, lawyer Pavel Astakhov, Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea, executives of Rostec and several officers of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
