Eurasian Development Bank Forecasts Inflation in Belarus at 5%

Inflation in Belarus is expected to reach around 5% by the end of the year. Analysts at the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) made the forecast in their weekly review of the economies of the bank’s member countries.

“We forecast inflation of around 5% year-on-year by the end of the year,” the review said.

The forecast follows data from Belstat on price increases in September, published last week. Annual inflation accelerated to 4.6%, up from 4.5% in August.

“Non-food products made the largest contribution: price growth accelerated to 3.7% year-on-year from 3.2% after the list of regulated goods was reduced. Services were another factor, with prices rising by 9.0% year-on-year, compared with 8.7% in August,” the EDB commented.
