Foreign ministers of European Union member states have approved a sanctions package introducing restrictive measures against 1,600 individuals and entities linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex. The announcement was made by the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
“This is the single largest expansion of our sanctions list since Russia started its war. Europe is again showing a united front. More than half are connected to the production chain for ballistic missiles. We are making it significantly harder, slower and more expensive for Russia to produce the weapons it uses to kill Ukrainian,” Kallas wrote on X.
Sanctions have also been imposed on individuals who became members of the State Duma after being elected in Ukraine’s occupied territories.
The decision of the Council of the EU has not yet been published.
