EDB Links Acceleration of Belarusian Economy to Trade and Investment

The acceleration of Belarus’s GDP growth in June was driven by domestic trade and investment, according to the weekly review of the economies of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) member states.

Belarus’s GDP grew by 1.5% in January-June, up from 0.9% in January-May.

“Domestic demand continues to support economic activity. Retail trade growth accelerated to 7.6% year-on-year from 7.1% year-on-year. Investment in fixed capital increased by 4.1% year-on-year after 1.5% year-on-year. The recovery in investment activity was supported by the return of capital construction to positive growth,” the EDB said.
