On March 25, two drones entered the airspace of Estonia and Latvia from Russia, while another drone entered Latvia from Belarus.
At 03:43 local time, a drone entered Estonia and crashed into the chimney of a power plant in Auvere. No injuries were reported, and the power plant did not sustain direct damage. Bomb disposal specialists are working at the scene, ERR reports.
Estonian Prosecutor General Astrid Asi noted that, according to preliminary information, the drone was not targeting Estonia.
Another drone entered Latvia from Russia. It crashed and exploded in the Krāslava Municipality at 02:39, LSM reports.
A third drone entered Latvian airspace from Belarus at 00:50. It made a loop and flew back toward Russia.
Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Latvian National Armed Forces for operations Egils Leščinskis believes the incidents were not coordinated actions by Russia and Belarus.
“Most likely, the aircraft went off course or were affected by electronic warfare measures used to protect certain technically important facilities,” he said.
On the night of March 25, Ukraine carried out a drone attack on Russia’s Leningrad Region. A fire was reported at the port of Ust-Luga.
