A drone carrying a 5-kilogram explosive device was discovered in Estonia on June 10. The information became public on Monday.
As ERR reported, citing Harrys Puusepp, head of a bureau at Estonia’s Internal Security Service, the drone wreckage was found by a resident of Rõuge municipality. The man had gone out to mow a field when he noticed the drone in tall grass. Additional fragments were found lodged in a tree.
Puusepp suggested that it was one of the drones that entered Estonian airspace on June 3.
“In this case, it was likely one of the drones detected by Air Force radar, and fighters were sent out, but no confirmation followed. The radar signal disappeared near where the wreckage has now been found, so this is likely one of the June 3 drones”, he said.
The incident was not reported earlier because of the large-scale Ilves military exercises taking place at the time. However, the area where the drone crashed was cordoned off, and all necessary procedures were carried out.
On the night of June 3, ahead of the opening of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil terminal in St. Petersburg and a Russian naval base in Kronstadt.
