Mazyr will host an experiment to introduce autonomous public transport.
According to the Homiel Regional Executive Committee, an autopilot system will operate the tram.
“The project will start in Mazyr, where artificial intelligence will take over driving, braking and even opening the doors,” the statement said.
The driver will remain in the cab and monitor the automated systems. The solution will be implemented by Belkommunmash.
Mazyr has one tram line connecting the city with the Mazyr Oil Refinery. It is approximately 20 km long.
