Prosecutors have sent to court a criminal case against a former deputy director of a trading company. He is accused of accepting a particularly large bribe.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the 41-year-old defendant ensured demand for a specific type of glass bottle from liquor producers in exchange for payments.
According to the prosecution, the man agreed to secure demand for the purchase of a certain type of glass bottle by distilleries. Production under this arrangement was launched in 2021. A commercial company owned the molding sets and finished products and was also the sole supplier of these bottles in the country. The defendant allegedly received bribes from December 2022 to June 2024.
“Using his official position and participation in a профильной commission, the defendant initiated and supported proposals for the production of alcoholic beverages in these glass bottles. As a result, alcoholic drinks in the new packaging were developed and launched into production at factories in 2023-2025. As part of his official duties, the defendant supervised the drafting of procurement and sales plans for alcoholic products, which formed the basis for production planning at factories and purchases of glass bottles,” prosecutors said.
The total amount of bribes allegedly received was 70,000 rubles.
The defendant remains in custody.
