oint CSTO exercises “Interaction-2026”, “Search-2026” and “Echelon-2026” began in Russia on September 27. Military contingents from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are taking part.
As the Belarusian Defense Ministry reported, during the “Interaction-2026” exercise, the military will rehearse the preparation and conduct of a joint operation to contain a border armed conflict. As part of “Search-2026”, participants will carry out reconnaissance activities in the interests of the CSTO Collective Operational Reaction Forces. The “Echelon-2026” exercise is focused on organizing logistical support.
The opening ceremony was attended by CSTO Joint Staff Chief Andrey Serdyukov, the organization’s Deputy Secretary General Mirlan Turgunbekov, commanders of the military contingents and invited representatives.
Serdyukov said the exercises would take into account the experience of modern armed conflicts, improve command and control of the Collective Forces, as well as their equipment with modern weapons, unmanned systems, reconnaissance and electronic warfare capabilities. Particular attention will be paid to air defense.
“The conditions that are taking shape require us to respond promptly to changes in the nature and conduct of combat operations. Guided by our priorities, we are improving the command components and formations of the Collective Forces and their readiness to operate in conditions as close as possible to those of modern armed conflicts”, he said.
